Israel announced on Monday that it had declassified evidence indicating the existence of a covert Hezbollah money center located beneath a hospital in Beirut. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claim that hundreds of millions of dollars in cash and gold were found in the bunker and were reportedly used to finance the group's activities.

Following a series of targeted attacks against Hezbollah's financial assets on Sunday night, the Israeli Air Force made this revelation. "I am going to declassify intelligence on a site that we did not strike-where Hezbollah has millions of dollars in gold and cash in Hassan Nasrallah's bunker," said IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, who gave a lengthy explanation during a televised briefing.

Haqqari said that despite claims of a large sum of money, the site had not been attacked. He said: "According to estimates, more than half a billion dollar bills and gold have been stored in this shelter. This money can be used to rebuild the country of Lebanon.".

Airstrikes on Sunday night targeted nearly 30 websites linked to Hezbollah, including websites operated by al-Qard al-Hassan (AQAH), a Hezbollah financing company. AQAH, although registered as a charity, has been accused by Israel and the United States of being a primary financial arm of Hezbollah and helping access money and gold reserves for military purposes.

Hagari said one of the main targets was an underground warehouse containing tens of millions of dollars in cash and gold; materials allegedly used to finance the attack on Israel. Although Hagari did not clarify whether all the money was lost in the attack, he said more airstrikes are expected, especially targeting some financial centers.

These attacks followed Israel's intensified efforts to disrupt Hezbollah's economy. According to General Herzi Halavi, Chief of the Israeli Armed Forces, there were more than 300 attacks in this war against Lebanese Hezbollah positions in 24 hours, including economic and logistical centers.

Al-Qurd al-Hassan has been operating in Lebanon since the 1980s, making loans to Lebanese people in exchange for gold reserves. Although officially designated as a charity, Israeli and American officials say the company is a key asset in Hezbollah's financial network, allowing the group to siphon off money and conduct its operations undercover of human capital.
